The Crestec USA team joined more than 600 attendees for the LocWorld52 conference in beautiful Monterey, California. Here is a brief overview of our LocWorld experience.
Go for the people
As exhibitors, we were happy to welcome many visitors to our booth again this year. So many friendly faces and warm greetings! We could really feel that people remember Crestec—the Japanese company that can help you do business in Japanese (and many other languages, too😉). Although it helps that we’ve exhibited at LocWorld in the past, relationships such as these come from putting people first and valuing real communication.
We were also delighted to receive interest from university students who were in attendance and answer their questions about our company and business, global expansion, and internship programs. These students represent the future of our industry, so their enthusiasm is encouraging.
Another thing we noticed at LocWorld52 was that we were the only Japanese company to participate as an exhibitor. Although we were proud to be the only representative from Japan, we’d love to see more companies from Japan and Asia join the conference. LocWorld really allows you to put names with faces and build relationships, so it’s a valuable networking resource everyone in the industry should take advantage of.
Learn from leaders and peers alike
The theme of LocWorld52 was “AI and Beyond,” and as was to be expected, a lot of the sessions were related to AI. We had the chance to hear from many companies that are currently using AI and ChatGPT or developing software and tools. It seems that despite all of the advances that have been made in the AI space, human proofreading and checking is still an essential part of workflows.
During the conference, CUS team members took the opportunity to join some of the valuable sessions that were on hand. Here’s a comment from one of our team members about a session she attended.
“Charting the Future: Women in Localization Predictions on AI’s Impact on the Industry highlighted the anxiety many women feel about AI potentially taking over jobs, especially in a traditionally male-dominated tech space. It was interesting to hear about the confidence gap, with many women feeling less secure in this AI-driven future. The conversation also addressed AI’s potential to reinforce biases if not developed inclusively. Overall, the talk showed the importance of empowering women with skills and support to shape AI’s impact on their careers and the industry equitably.”
A lot of attention is given to technological innovation these days, so it’s nice to come to a conference like LocWorld and be reminded that the industry hasn’t forgotten the importance of the people and the real-world concerns of professionals in our industry.
See you again, LocWorld!
LocWorld conferences have a lot to offer. Industry leaders and influencers bring valuable information and insights that enrich the ongoing conversation on where our industry is headed. But the real reason to attend LocWorld is the people we meet and the connections we make. Crestec USA has attended several LocWorld events over the years, and we look forward to joining future conferences.
